Meribel Lift Pass Options - Winter

Lift Pass Options for Meribel - Winter
In winter there are various different passes on offer, and the choice can be bewildering. All passes are now hands-free and don't require photos - they stay in your pocket and you no longer need to show your pass to the lift attendants.
Meribel Valley Lift Pass
Most beginners will buy a Méribel Valley pass (150km of piste for €178), which gives the option of buying a one-day extension to the rest of the Three Valleys. The other alternative for beginners to is use the free beginner lifts for the first day or so, and then progress to buying a Mini-pass (Meribel) or Pass-Sitelle (Mottaret) which give access to the gentler slopes. The disadvantage of this is that you will need to queue up each day to buy your day pass, and if you are in ski school lessons, your instructor may decide to take the group to another area which is not covered by your pass. It is generally less hassle to buy a week-long pass.

3 Valleys Lift Pass
Intermediates and advanced skiers usually take advantage of the Three Valley pass which offers unlimited access to all 600km of pistes (a 6 day adult pass costs €220).

Families & Kids Lift Passes
The French Ski School (ESF) offers children’s lessons with slightly cheaper lift passes included in the price.

Even better value is the Family Lift Pass (starting from Meribel or Meribel-Mottaret) which offers up to 20 percent savings for two parents and two or more children aged below 18 years, and can cover either the Meribel valley or all Three Valleys.

Discounted Rate & Pedestrian Passes
Generally, there are no discounts on lift passes for groups. The only exception is for ski clubs or associations and there are strict terms: the minimum number is 20 and the passes must be paid for by the club. Contact the lift pass company for more details.

For those of you wishing to enjoy the beauty of the surrounding mountains without hurtling down them, it is possible to buy a pedestrian ticket at the base of any of the lifts. These special discounted lift passes give you access to all the Three Valleys lifts, handy if you want to join your skiing buddies for lunch on the mountain. There is even an option to add swimming pool and ice rink entry to your lift pass.

Lift passes are free for those over 75, and for the under fives (remember to bring proof of date of birth to qualify).

Lift Passes – Additional Information
You will need a photo for season passes, free passes and the 12 day option - and for all these your photo will be taken digitally at the lift pass office. Don't forget you can now order your passes in advance and have them sent to your home address or hotel / rental agency in the resort.

Spend an extra 3€ to get the reusable 'P@S' credit card sized lift pass. It is much more resistant to the snow than the 'throw away' type pass, and you can reuse it on your next holiday. You can even order it in advance and have it delivered to your home address, or arrange to have it delivered to your hotel / estate agency in the resort on your arrival. Keep the receipt - if your pass is lost or stolen the lift company will issue you with a new one with only a small admin fee to pay.

When you purchase your lift-pass you will be given the additional option to add insurance. Even if you have your own cover this is worth considering as it is a special ski insurance instantly recognised in France. Ask for 'assurance Carré Neige' - it has to be put onto the pass at the time of purchase.
