Bigger & better snowpark for VT next season

After only one season, the new snowpark in the Plateau sector at Val Thorens is already a victim of its own success and needs to be enlarged by 18,000m². Costing €300,000, next year the newly expanded park will cover a total area of 88000m2 and include a new 500 m long hand rail, a larger beginners’ area with more educational and fun elements and improvements to the expert zone, providing even more fun for skiers and snowboarders of all standards. read more...

As a lover of fireworks (yes, yes I know they're not exactly environmentally friendly AND they cost a fortune, but they're still great!) I couldn't quite believe my Courchnet.com eyes when I saw Courchevel is to host a fireworks and pyrotechnics festival! It's a chance for the industry's best to get together, but it's also a chance for us to see some great fireworks displays for free! read more...

For the remainder of the summer season vehicles will no longer be allowed to park on the Montée de la Chaudanne, one of the two main roads running through Méribel centre. Until the end of August, wooden barriers will prevent cars from parking on either side of the street, effectively enlarging the pavement and allowing pedestrians more space to wander, enjoy outdoor cafes and the twice weekly market. Deliveries will still be permitted and two short stay parking spaces are still available outside the Pharmacy. After public consultation at the end of the summer, a decision will be taken by the town hall whether to make the change permanent.
